سجلت إيطاليا حصيلة وفيات جراء فيروس كورونا أكبر من أي دولة أخرى؛ إذ بلغ إجمالي الوفيات 3405 حالات، وهو أكثر مما سُجلته الصين التي بدأ منها الوباء. وبلغت الوفيات في الصين 3245 حالة، على الرغم من شكوك أثيرت بشأن مدى مصداقية بياناتها المعلنة. وفرضت إيطاليا إغلاقا في 12 مارس/آذار، ومددت فترته إلى ما بعد تاريخ الانتهاء الأصلي المحدد في 25 مارس/آذار، كما طلبت السلطات من جميع الإيطاليين تقريبا البقاء في منازلهم. وعلى الرغم من اتخاذ تلك الإجراءات، ارتفعت أعداد الإصابات والوفيات الجديدة. وبلغ إجمالي عدد الإصابات 220 ألف حالة في شتى أرجاء العالم، وما يزيد على 9000 حالة وفاة.

لليوم الثاني على التوالي، لم يسجل بر الصين الرئيسي أي إصابة محلية جديدة بفيروس كورونا، وتراجع عدد الوفيات إلى 3 فقط، في حين ارتفع عدد الإصابات اليومية، بين مسافرين جاؤوا إلى البلاد، ليبلغ مستوى قياسيا جديدا. وقالت لجنة الصحة الوطنية إن البر الرئيسي سجل 39 إصابة مؤكدة جديدة، الخميس، جميعها بين وافدين قدموا إلى البلاد. وقالت السلطات الصحية، الجمعة، إن من ضمن الإصابات الجديدة بين الوافدين 14 حالة في قوانغدونغ، و8 إصابات في شنغهاي و6 حالات في بكين. وبهذا يصل العدد الإجمالي لحالات الإصابة المؤكدة على  بر الصين  الرئيسي إلى 80967 حالة، وفق "رويترز"، بينما بلغ عدد الوفيات الناجمة عن تفشي الفيروس في بر الصين الرئيسي 3248 حتى نهاية الخميس، بزيادة 3 حالات فقط عن اليوم السابق. وتراجع عدد الوفيات في  الصين  بشكل مستمر خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة، بعدما فرضت الدولة حظرا محكما على مدينة ووهان، تزامن مع إجراءات صحية مشددة
